A day of immersion in  business world in Toronto

On 12 March 2026, cadets from the Royal Military College of Canada’s (RMC) undergraduate Business Administration programme travelled to Toronto for the inaugural Industry Immersion Day, where they met with leaders from Canada’s financial and consulting sectors.

The visit brought cadets to the headquarters of Toronto-Dominion (TD) Bank, Accenture, AGF Management, and Canada Company. Many of the leaders who welcomed the group were veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), including LGen (ret’d) Michael Rouleau, former Vice Chief of the Defence Staff.

Throughout the day, cadets participated in group discussions and informal conversations with industry professionals, exploring topics such as the transition from military service to civilian careers, the changing economics of warfare, and the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) in both business and defence.

For many cadets, Bay Street provided a striking contrast to the RMC campus. During a tour of the TD trading floor, cadets saw how modern financial markets operate and had the opportunity to speak directly with junior associates about their career paths.

LGen (ret’d) Rouleau spoke about the importance of adaptability in an evolving security environment, highlighting the growing role of innovation and emerging companies in supporting defence capabilities.

Artificial intelligence was also a key topic during discussions with leaders at Accenture and AGF Management, who spoke about both the opportunities and risks associated with rapidly advancing technologies.

The visit offered cadets a valuable opportunity to see how leadership, innovation, and strategic thinking connect the military and private sectors.
