Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities

As of 7 September 2021, any member of the CAF admitted to a Bachelor of Arts (Honours), Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science (Honours), Bachelor of Science, or Bachelor of Engineering degree will be required to take part in the same mandatory second language, physical fitness and military classes as the Officer and Navel Cadets (unless they are exempt by virtue of their current or expired linguistic profile or they are granted legacy rights by Senate).

As of 7 September 2021, non-military students will not be granted admission to the degree programmes below unless they have already been granted legacy rights by Senate.

The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities offers a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree and a Bachelor of Arts (Major) degree in the following disciplines:

Faculty of Sciences

RMC Online Programmes

The following degrees and certificates are open to all CAF members as well as non-military applicants who meet the RMC Eligibility criteria. These programmes do not include the physical fitness, language or military pillars and are not subsidized under the ROTP.

Bachelor of Military Arts and Science / Bachelor of Military Arts and Sciences (Honours)

The Bachelor of Military Arts and Science (BMASc) is a unique degree programme for the CAF, offered through RMC Online (Distance Education) and is thoroughly grounded in the elements of the military profession. It integrates in-service training with special and standard university courses. The programme is designed for the serving military member and recognizes university-level achievement appropriate to the profession of arms. This programme is not open to ROTP or UTPNCM candidates.

Bachelor of Arts (General)

The Bachelor of Arts (General) is available with or without a concentration for students interested in the fields of Social Sciences and Humanities. This degree is not open to, or availble for direct entry to, students enrolled in the ROTP programme. Course offerings, via distance learning, for Bachelor of Arts (General) are limited at this time and completion of such a degree may require attendance at RMC or the completion of some courses at other universities.

Certificate in Military Leadership and Management (CMLM)

The Certificate in Military Leadership and Management (CMLM) is an interdisciplinary certificate at the undergraduate level, offered via RMC Online (Distance Education). The certificate can be applied to the Bachelor of Military Arts and Science, the Bachelor of Military Arts and Science (Honours) and the Bachelor of Arts (General).

Certificate in Management with Applications to Defence

This certificate is intended to allow individuals to gain a basic understanding of the defence management field. The Certificate can be applied to the General B.A. and B.M.A.Sc. degrees. The equivalent of 10 one-credit courses is required for completion of the Certificate.

Certificate in Applied Economics

This 8-credit certificate is intended to expand knowledge of the key fields of economics within the defence community. The courses provide an introduction to economics and credits may be applied to B.M.A.Sc. or B.A. (Gen). This certificate is closed to students under the ROTP.

Division of Graduate Studies and Research

General Information

The programmes of graduate studies at the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) are open to Officers and non-commissioned members of the Canadian Armed Forces, Regular and Reserves, and to civilians who are either Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
