Dr. Quan holds a PhD in Psychology from the University of Ottawa. During his doctoral studies, he examined family relationships across diverse cultural contexts (Canada, Singapore, and Poland). He has published empirical research articles on the influence of culture, socioeconomics, child care, parenting, and genetics on children’s health and well-being. His research has been recognized by awards from the International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology, the Society for Research in Child Development, and the International Society for the Study of Behavioural Development.
In addition to his interest in cross-cultural issues and human development, Dr. Quan also has a strong interest in undergraduate education. He holds a Certificate in University Teaching from the University of Ottawa and has taught cross-cultural psychology, developmental psychology, and statistics at the undergraduate level. At RMC, he is interested in continuing to explore innovative teaching practices such as blended/flipped models of learning, problem-based learning, and community-service learning. As the child of refugees and a first-generation university graduate, Dr. Quan is also committed to advancing the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion at RMC.
