Welcome to the Department of Political Science and Economics at the Royal Military College of Canada. Our Department offers a broad spectrum of courses dealing with the political, economic and geographical causes and implications of various domestic and international issues, preparing students both for careers of effective service in the Canadian Forces and for further educational development at the graduate level. A minimum of 12 courses in Politics and Economics, with at least five from each of the two disciplines, is required for an Honours degree; a minimum of ten courses, with five from each discipline, for a general degree. Prospective students are encouraged to consult the academic calendar for more specific information about courses of study or to direct inquiries directly to any member of the Department.

The Senate of the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) has appointed Joel J. Sokolsky, Principal Emeritus of RMC, in recognition of his outstanding service to the CAF and to the nation. Prior to retiring from his role as Professor in the Department of Political Science and Economics and an internationally recognized scholar of civil military relations, Dr. Sokolsky was Dean of Arts, Head of the Political Science Department and Director of War Studies, and Principal from 2008 to 2013.
